Student-Created App “DormChef” Advances Toward App Store Development
As part of the 8th-grade technology class, students participated in a guided, hands-on project exploring artificial intelligence, emerging tools, and what it means to use them responsibly. Students were introduced to AI, large language models, basic machine learning concepts, and the importance of thoughtful prompt design.
Students then applied these concepts through structured coding exercises, learning how AI tools can support problem-solving, creativity, and the development of new ideas.
The workshop ended with a final project where students created their own apps with the support of AI tools. Students presented their projects to a judging panel, demonstrating their ability to combine technical understanding, creativity, and practical application.

The winning project, DormChef, was selected for continued development, with the goal of eventually making it available through the App Store.
