The academic program at All Saints’ Episcopal Day School offers students a course of study that is intellectually challenging and inspires a love of learning. The curriculum is designed to promote the education of students who are knowledgeable, questioning, integrated and reflective. The course of study encourages each student to explore his or her own interests, strengths, and passions. Teachers recognize each student’s strengths and encourage each to excel in these areas as well as challenging them in their areas of growth through a variety of teaching approaches that emphasize both critical thinking skills and experiential, project-based learning.
The classic core subjects of English, mathematics, science, and history are enriched with programs that include French, Spanish, religious studies, art history, Latin, art, music, ceramics, photography, dance, theater, and sports. Students also have the opportunity to participate in environmental education activities, character education, community service, and student government.
All Saints’ has a culture that says academics are cool, i.e.: “It’s cool to be smart.” Personal achievement is part of the All Saints’ way and students devote considerable amount of time and effort to excellence in all their undertakings. Students routinely participate in county-wide and state level academic events including Science Fair, History Day, Mathletics, Math League, National Steinbeck Young Writer’s competition, and the Spelling Bees.
All Saints’ students do extremely well in the competitive high school admissions process and the successful placement of All Saints’ graduates in local independent high schools, national boarding schools, and later competitive colleges across the country, speaks to the success of the academic program. |
