Visual Arts

The All Saints’ Visual Arts program is a comprehensive, hands-on program where children are encouraged to grow as creative thinkers. First through eighth graders make art in a student-centered environment, where every child works at their own developmental level. Everyone is encouraged to nurture individual ideas, explore their curiosity, resourcefulness, and problem solving potential.

Lower School Visual Arts

The art curriculum is designed to provide progressive growth and confidence in grades one through five. Our young artists explore several techniques in a variety media including painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics and sculpture. Students learn about the work of modern artists and expand their visual vocabulary by talking about these works in relation to the elements of art and design.

Middle School Visual Arts

The Middle School art curriculum is designed to provide progressive growth and confidence in grades six through eight. Students learn several techniques in a variety media including painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics and sculpture.

Many projects connect to the work of an artist, an artistic movement, or a historical period. The curriculum complements units explored in the history and art history classes, encouraging the interconnectedness of learning. Students analyze historical works of art in relation to their particular time period and in relation to the elements of art and design.

All middle school students can participate in our after school art classes. Mudheads, our popular ceramics class, focuses on wheel throwing and hand building. Black and white photography where students learn the basics of photography and dark room developing, and set design, where we build sets for our two annual productions.
