New School year to start in Distance Learning

All Saints will switch to on-campus learning as soon as possible!
We are just three weeks away from our August 18 start of school! We look forward to reconnecting with our students and to welcoming so many new families to the All Saints community.

Unless we see a reduction in local COVID-19 infection rates, Monterey County will remain on the "watchlist" and we will not be permitted to return to campus as we'd hoped. In this case, we would begin the school year in Distance Learning. As a reminder, on July 17, Governor Newsom established a standard that schools and school districts must use to determine if they can open for in-person instruction. These guidelines state that public and private schools may not reopen for in-person instruction at any time if they are located in a local health jurisdiction that has been on the county monitoring list within the prior 14 days. Monterey County is currently one of the many counties on the watchlist.

However, the Governor also noted that schools and school districts may have an opportunity to request an exemption from this watchlist mandate. We have inquired with the County, and our understanding is that the process for applying for this exception has yet to be formally established. Once the State provides Monterey County with further instruction, we will consider whether this exemption is a viable option for All Saints. We have surveyed all constituents within our community and have very strong support for in-person instruction from parents and faculty members. We also have a detailed plan, based on all CDC, CDPH and CDE guidelines, as well as the recommendations of our medical team, which we believe will keep our community safe and allow for the best possible instruction for our students.

We also learned this week that our preschool program is exempt from the State's closure order. This means that our preschool students can begin school on campus as scheduled on August 18.
