Scott Fujita named new Head of School

CARMEL, CA • JANUARY 30, 2019 • After completing a national search, All Saints’ Day School has announced Scott Fujita as their new Head of School. He will start his new position July 1, 2019.

Scott Fujita has been an integral part of the school for the past 7 years, first as a parent, then Board member, and most recently as part of the faculty. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration, and a Master of Arts in Education from UC Berkeley, where he graduated with honors.

He was also a 2010 Super Bowl winning linebacker and captain of the New Orleans Saints’ Defensive unit.

“Scott embodies the right leadership characteristics, communication skills, and vision. We feel extremely fortunate to have Scott and Jaclyn in our community and in this important position. We look forward to his extraordinary success in this role,” said Shelly & Dan Lynch, owners of Carmel Realty and 17 year parents (Billy '14, Lucy '16, Parker '19) at All Saints’.

After the retirement of longtime Athletic Director, Thad Sigourney, Scott Fujita stepped in to fill the role for the past year. He established All Saints’ first cross-country team, as well as a track & field team, and re-established the flag football team, which finished their season undefeated. When current Head of School, Hugh Jebson, announced his departure last summer, the school began a nationwide search. With the help of highly respected Resource Group 175 (RG175) consultant Doreen Oleson, All Saints’ generated a list of 38 potential candidates from around the nation.

“Jaclyn and I fell in love with All Saints’ from day one. I enjoyed my tenure on the Board, and was thrilled to step in as Athletic Director, and the more involved I have become the more I have seen just how special this school has been for so many people, for decades, and what it can become,” said Scott Fujita.

He added his name to the pool and was among the five finalists who went through the full vetting and interview process.

“Scott’s exceptional leadership, his dedication to the All Saints’ mission and values, and his own lifelong commitment to learning made it evident he was the only person who could galvanize the current momentum at All Saints' and take the school to the next level,” said Ken Silveira, Chair of the All Saints’ Day School Board of Trustees.

About Scott:  Scott spent 11 years as an NFL Linebacker with the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and Cleveland Browns. While with the Saints, the team won Super Bowl XLIV against the Indianapolis Colts with Scott as the captain of the Defensive Unit.

After serving for four years on the NFL Players Association’s Board of Representatives, Scott was selected as a Vice President on the Executive Committee of the players’ union, where he served an additional four years.

Scott was one of the founding members of Team Gleason, a New Orleans based nonprofit inspired by his friend and former teammate, Steve Gleason, who is living with ALS. He was a Producer and the Director of Development on the feature length, award-winning documentary film, GLEASON, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and appeared in theaters across the country in the summer of 2016.
Scott also serves on the Board of GLEASON LIFE SKILLS SPORTS CLINICS, where he co-directs and helps design curriculum for its summer camp programs in New Orleans, LA.

Scott Fujita attended the University of California at Berkeley and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration, and a Master of Arts in Education. Scott and his wife Jaclyn have three daughters and live in Carmel Valley.
